My latest project

Sorry for the delay in posting - football season is upon us and my time is very limited. And for future reference - my blogging will be very sporatic until Thanksgiving. But, I digress.

As I mentioned in an earlier blog, we decided to move the boys into the same room and I was claiming my office space back. Well, as a result I needed some furniture to go in there but the budget is tight lately so I had to do it with limited resources. I visited the flea market and a couple of thrift stores and found what I needed. My best find was this chair below. Now, pay attention to its' two layers of fabric - the original and then the first reupholster. This chair has to be from the 80's but I thought the shape and size were good so I made the purchase - a whopping $10! Sadly, the fabric is not Schumacher. I don't think I will even say where I got it b/c if anybody from Schumacher saw this sight and read where I bought this green houndstooth, then I'd surely be in some hot water (I'm not even sure who made it - it didn't say on the selvage but the store I bought it at is not known to be a fabric store).

Anyways - for the entire chair (fabric, chair & trim) - I paid $40. I have a slight pucker on the cushion from where it was sewn but I had never sewn a cushion like that before so I will accept the pucker and if I ever reupholster another chair, I will try to do better on it.

I am very impressed! I saw the pictures and told Jason, "Come here and look at this! Kelly Ryals reupholstered an entire chair!" Ha ha! Looks great!
