Our House Our Year

Well, the sign on the Dorman side of the stadium summed up Saturday's night game in a nutshell. Byrnes lost the first half of the game by a disgusting margin and came back in the 2nd half only to come up a bit short in the end. But I was okay with the whole thing. I almost felt impartial sitting in that stadium - it was strange. I always swell up with Rebel pride when I'm there to see them play but Saturday - the spark just wasn't there.

Maybe it was because it took 2 hours to get parked and seated in the stadium.

Maybe it was because there were 15000 people trying to get into the game and there wasn't a cop in sight directing traffic.

Maybe it was because I didn't get to my seat until the end of the first quarter when we left the house at 6pm for a 7:30 game.

Maybe it was because I think the architects who developed Dorman "University" didn't quite think the whole traffic flow thing through.

Maybe it was because my mom and dad (both using a walking cane) had no available handicap parking and had to walk WAY TOO FAR to get to the stadium with a disability.

Maybe it was because Trey was with me and when Trey and I are at Byrnes games together, they always lose (dad informed me that we are now banned from attending any more games together).

Maybe it was because we had to leave after the 3rd quarter to get back home to our babysitter in fear that it may take another 2 hours just to get out of the parking lot.

I don't know. The stars weren't in alignment. Something was off. But all in all - I think we should find the site developer/planner and tar and feather him/them. I hope to NEVER attend another event at Dorman where there will be a crowd of 15,000. I promise - I'm staying home!

I still believe in my Rebels and congratulate them on a valiant effort to come back after halftime. Although I'm already planning to miss the state championship (which is always my birthday weekend and Trey & I are taking a trip to the mountains to celebrate) I know the Rebels will be there in all of their glory. They may have lost the Region, but they haven't lost their chance at State.

you and Trey are NOT allowed to come to the games together anymore if that has happened more than once....lol. i also heard from someone today that when they turned the corner leaving the school that a door on the bus storage wasn't latched and helmets and shoulder pads came out everywhere. cars dodging them, etc. they got them all back in without anything being hurt. foreshadowing of the night to come - probably so. they did show a lot of heart, though coming back the way they did. if only they had a little more time to work out their HUGE deficit. oh well. like you said - they can still go all the way.
