Who did this?

Last night I was giving the boys a bath. I was letting them play a bit and when I returned, Peyton was standing up in the tub saying he wanted out. He told me that there was "stinky in the water." I didn't see anything - and then all of a sudden - I noticed two small turds sitting on my bathroom floor. Peyton politely told me that he had removed them from the tub. (I nearly died at this point). So I looked in the water AGAIN and then I saw it - more turds that had sunk to the bottom of the tub (right beside where Nolan was sitting). I started freaking out because neither of the boys had been washed so I did what any mother would do - I washed them at warp speed and pulled both of them out of the "stinky" water. In my mind I was trying to figure out who the poop came from. I asked Peyton, "did you stink in the tub?" His answer is the absolute best...

"No mommy. General did it."

Yes, my three year old told me his dog pooped in the tub (General was OUTSIDE at the time of the crime). I couldn't help but laugh (do you see a pattern with me)? I thought - maybe he is talking about something else. So I ask again, "Peyton did you stink in the tub?"

"No mommy. General did it. General stinked in the tub."

So there you have it. My three year old already lies to me. How many more times will he use General as the scapegoat? I'm just curious as to why he didn't blame Nolan. At least he was in the tub with him!

These boys amaze me everyday. It's always something humorous going on in our home.
