I have a storm! And I'm sure all of you are wondering what crazy things I had to do to get it, right? Well, I was reading a lot of online forums saying that the initial distribution was going to be very small and while in Verizon getting everything set up with our new lines, I talked to several employees who agreed on the limited distribution. So in order to get the storm, I was going to have to get there early. Initially I was told the store would not open early and their regular opening hour was 9. Then I went in and found out (just two days prior to release) that they WOULD be opening early - 7am! Of course just 48 hours from release and rumor was that people would be fighting for these things. And let me say - I'm a gadget freak but not to the point that I would camp out, etc. to get one of these phones. HOWEVER, I am very competitive. And the competition inside of me to get one of these first released phones was OVERWHELMING. So, I had decided I would be there at 5am. So I talk about showing up at 5am for several days and it certainly didn't seem like a big deal at all (maybe a little crazy but not too crazy, right)? So Thursday night arrives. And of course last week was THE COLDEST it has been this winter. I start to realize how silly I am being over this phone. I was ready to call it quits (but inside of me I kept replaying the conversation I had with one of the guys at Verizon.. "I WILL be here at 5am on Friday - just look for me!" You see, I had already committed. Even if it wasn't to anyone that I cared about. It's the competitiveness inside of me (again). Trey convinces me that I AM going to be there at 5am and I AM going to get my phone. I agreed. So, I pulled out all of my garb from my trip to Chicago earlier this year and got a bag ready for things to do while I'm waiting. Trey went and got me a folding chair (ours somehow were missing). I got everything ready and went to bed. Nolan thought it would be cool to wake up at 3:30am so I was up from that point on. Got ready & left (after Trey fixed me breakfast) and got to Verizon at 5am. I pulled up to see another guy there - I was the second one there!!! I was thrilled. I got all of my stuff out of my car and set up shop. As soon as I was finished, the asst. manager came outside and told us she was taking names - they had 30 storms in stock. She said that we could leave and come back - we didn't have to wait in the cold! I wanted to hug her. So, I packed my car back up and headed home. Got in my warm bed and left about 6:30 to get there for the 7am opening (I couldn't risk losing my spot by being late). Got in and got my phone and was out before 8am. It was amazing!
Getting used to the storm takes a little time but I love it! The typing is the biggest adjustment but now I can do it just as fast as I could on my curve. This phone does some amazing things and I'm glad I went and got mine. I think now they are on backorder until Dec. 5 so it was definately worth my time to get up early and get mine now.
So, that's the story on how I got my Storm. Back to your regular programming...
