It's about time

Yes, I know a 3 1/2 year old shouldn't have a paci, but whatever. Mine did. But in our house, Black Friday had a new meaning. It meant no more paci. On our front porch we have a mailbox for Santa and we told Peyton that we were going to send his paci's to Santa and Santa would leave him a present in its' place. Nolan didn't quite understand but he played along. Friday night, we had Peyton put all of his paci's in the mailbox. Trey took them to bed and surprirsingly, bedtime went pretty well. The next morning when they woke up, they found presents outside of the mailbox that Santa had left. I wish I had a picture which showed their excitement. Nolan was jumping up and down clapping his hands and Peyton just had a huge look of shock on his face. They ripped into their presents (which was a motorized race car track with extra cars) and they were so thrilled! I put together the race track and they played with it for hours. The day went by and Nolan asked for his paci occasionally. Each time we told him that Santa took it and he seemed content with that and moved on. Peyton didn't ask for it at all on Saturday but did as this morning. I told him that Santa took his paci's and he didn't say another word. Bedtime wasn't bad last night which was nice. We've tried taking the paci away numerous times before which was pure torture so this has been pleasant in comparison. So, I think it's safe to say we've retired the pacis. Thank goodness that I can use Santa as bribery! (I did hide the paci's in our cabinet in case of emergency but I'm going right now to throw them out. I think we're going to make it this time!)

(I'm sorry Peyton doesn't have any clothes on - that's how he prefers it and when we're home, this is how he rolls.)

And here is a picture of General - doesn't he look like he's sad there are no presents under the tree?

(This is a picture of Nolan before we took the paci away - I included it just because he is so sweet in this picture)

Way to go!!! I am so proud of your boys. Owen will be 10 and going to sleep overs with his. The only time he gets it is bedtime and without it he has a meltdown. I love the idea and am glad that it worked. See... You don't need Super Nanny! :)
