Lamp Project

Well, Peyton broke both of the bedside lamps in my bedroom (at different times, of course). I've been looking for replacements since December and haven't found anything that I really liked enough for the cost. Lamps are expensive! And for the simple fact that these may also get broken, I didn't want to spend a fortune. So, I went to His House (like Goodwill) and got these awful looking brass lamps for $2 each!

But of course I couldn't put brass lamps in my bedroom so I had to give them a facelift. I had planned to paint them with primer, then red paint, then black paint and then sand them down to make them look a bit antiqued but after I painted the red, I decided to leave them as they were and put ivory shades on them (which were $10 each at Ross). So, for $12 each, I now have the lamps pictured below. I absolutely love them - better than the others - so maybe I should thank Peyton for breaking the others? Probably not but if he breaks these, I know where to go to buy more inexpensive lamps! (And I also found two matching upholstered chairs there, too - pictures to come!)

Please come spend a week with me and decorate...on that same type of budget. :) I am challenged in that area. You have a pretty blank canvas too. After 5 years, we have 1 picture on our walls and khaki walls.
