Bathroom Mirror Project

We moved into our house 5 years ago this March and ever since I've been here, I've HATED our bathroom mirrors. Now, I've had a lot of projects that I've had to do before I got to the mirrors but I have had enough of these awful mirrors so it was time to get them replaced.

I had no idea how difficult this would be - I envisioned taping up the mirrors, smashing them with a hammer into a million pieces and then going from there. I knew hanging the new mirrors wouldn't be difficult but getting them down would be the toughest part.

I hopped onto the internet and searched for information on how to remove/replace bathroom mirrors. This is where I found the best news ever. There are typically two methods of hanging wall length mirrors - glue them to the wall (usually with Liquid Nails) or use a hook device to hold them to the wall. The best scenario - the hook device. Why? Well otherwise, removing a mirror that has been glued to the wall would surely leave damaged sheetrock which to me - wasn't worth removing the mirrors. I ran to the bathroom to see how mine were hung - they had metal hooks!!! Yippee! So, off they came. I had to paint behind the removed mirror and then hang the new ones. No problems and not really very time consuming (considering some other home projects I've done). Here are some before and afters:

Master Bathroom before (I was so anxious to take the mirror down that I forgot to take a picture with the mirror still up....doh!)

A dimly lit (sorry) bathroom picture with my new mirror (only $29)

Another view of the master bathroom (with the shower on the right)

***THE HALL BATH***

This mirror spans the entire wall above the counter in the hall bath. Photos are very hard to take in this bathroom so I had to do several. These are on the left side of the sink/counter.
Left side with mirror removed.

Right side with wall mirror still in place.

Right side with mirror removed.

My new mirror...SO much better! (And by the way - it was only $39)
